Our Philosophy
Our mission is clear: to prepare our players to make their High School basketball team in two years. This development plan is our roadmap to get them there. We believe that to make a competitive high school roster, a player needs to be well-rounded, skilled, and make smart plays/reads on the court. Our program is designed to push players out of their comfort zones (because that’s where real growth happens) and develop them into versatile athletes with a high basketball IQ. We create an environment of hard work, discipline, and a genuine love for the game, all aimed at elevating our Class of 2032 players so they are ready for that next big step.
2026 Spring-Summer Season
2026 Spring-Summer Season is all about mastering the fundamentals, sharpening basketball IQ, and instilling a more aggressive, attack-the-rim mindset.
| Development Area | What We’ll Work On | How We’ll Get It Done |
|---|---|---|
| Basketball IQ & Leadership | – Reading the floor and making smart plays under pressure. – Finding their voice and leading on the court. | – Situational Scrimmages: We’ll run drills that mimic real game situations—like being down by 2 with 30 seconds left—to build composure.- Playing Every Position: Players will learn different roles in practice to get a 360-degree view of the game. |
| Ball Handling | – Making the ball an extension of their body. – Handling pressure without panic. | – Daily Dribbling Routines: Non-negotiable drills like pounds, V-dribbles, and figure-8s to build that essential feel for the ball. – Two-Ball Drills: To push their coordination and hand speed to the next level. – Pressure Drills: Putting them in 1-on-1 and “king of the court” situations to get them comfortable with a defender in their face. |
| Offensive Skills | – Attacking the defender head-on and finishing strong. – Learning to see the whole court, including weak-side action. | – 1-on-1 Attack Drills: Forcing players to go through their defender, not just around them. We want them to embrace contact.- Finishing Packages: Drills focused on different ways to finish at the rim through traffic. – Pass & Cut Drills: Introducing the basics of ball screens and making reads when the ball leaves their hands. |
| On-Ball Defense | – Becoming a lockdown on-ball defender. | – 1-on-1 In Space: Drills that teach players how to use their feet to stay in front and contain the ball without fouling. – Mirror Drills: To improve footwork and reaction time. – Closeout Drills: Practicing how to close out on a shooter under control and ready to move. |
| Strength & Conditioning | – Building a solid athletic foundation. | – Bodyweight Circuits: Using exercises like planks, squats, and lunges to build functional, on-court strength. – Agility Work: Ladder drills, cone drills, and defensive slides to make them quicker and more agile. |
2026 Fall-Winter Season
2026 Fall-Winter Season builds on that foundation. We’ll shift to more advanced skills, consistent execution, and shaping them into true scoring threats.
| Development Area | What We’ll Work On | How We’ll Get It Done |
|---|---|---|
| Basketball IQ & Leadership | – Making advanced reads and creating plays for others. – Becoming an on-court coach who leads by example. | – Conceptual Offense: Moving beyond set plays to teach players how to read and react to whatever the defense throws at them. – Pick-and-Roll Reads: Drilling the different options off a ball screen until making the right read becomes second nature. |
| Ball Handling | – Forging unshakable handles. – Learning to create space and break down a defender. | – Advanced Combo Moves: Adding crossovers, between-the-legs, and hesitation moves to their arsenal. – Full-Court Pressure Drills: Simulating a full-court press to build poise and confidence against any defense. |
| Offensive Skills | – Becoming a legitimate “three-level scorer” (at the rim, mid-range, and from three). – Developing a lethal pull-up jumper and being a go-to 1-on-1 threat. | – Shooting Workouts: Drills that cover everything: form shooting, spot-up shots, and pulling up off the dribble. – Live Scenarios: Lots of 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 play where they have to create a shot for themselves or their teammate. – Late-Game Execution: Scrimmages that focus on how to execute and win in the final minutes of a close game. |
| Defense | – Turning into a “defensive pest” that opposing players hate to face. – Mastering team defense concepts. | – Deny & Recover Drills: To improve their off-ball defense and anticipation skills. – The Shell Drill: A classic for a reason. This teaches team rotations, communication, and help-side defense. – Trapping Drills: Learning how and when to trap effectively to create turnovers. |
| Strength & Conditioning | – Building explosive athletes. | – Plyometrics: Adding exercises like box jumps to increase their vertical and first-step quickness.- Resistance Training: Introducing bands and medicine balls to build real power. |
